Congratulations Coach Makela on your 700th Career Win!

Coaches Announced for 18U, 16U and 14U Teams for 2017-18 Season

Bob Makela-14 Gold Coach-7 state titles, 11 state championship appearances, 1 Midwest National Championship,  over 600 wins as a head coach, finished 2nd at 18U A “AFA” nationals with a 16u team, played fast pitch for 12 years with a .400 average and 2 world tournaments. Last 2 teams have been nationally ranked by Flo Softball.  Coach Makela's current 18U team has all been recruited at the DI and DII level.  Only team in the 5 state area ranked in the nation in back to back years. One of the founders of the Sting Non Profit organization.

Steve Snedeker 14U Gold Coach- Co-founder of the MN Sting, coached with the Sting for 10 years and brought a team to nationals every year, coached at Bethany Academy for 6 years (5 years as the head varsity coach), Lakeville North, and is currently on the coachin staff at Roseville High School.  He has been  coaching fast pitch softball for over 18 years.

Kelsey Miller 16U Gold Coach- 2nd year of coaching with the MN Sting. Kelsey brought a mostly 1st year 16u team to a 4th place finish at state and 23rd place finish in the Longmount Colorado Independence Day Invite only tournament. Kelsey grew up in Texas playing ball and continued her career at Dartmouth where she was a 4 year starter in the infield. Kelsey received many accolades at Dartmouth including Ivy League Player of the Week award and College Sports Madness Player of the week.

Mikayla Hansen, 18U  Gold Co-Coach-  The Minnesota Sting welcomes Mikayla Hansen back to the program. She has been named as our 18U Head Coach! Mikayla played for the Sting for 4 years and committed to St. Cloud State to play softball. She is finishing her college education at UW-River Falls for an Elementary Education degree. Most recently Mikayla has been an Asst Coach for the MN Magic organization the last two years and is the JV Head Coach for River Falls High School. We are excited to have Mikayla back in the program!

Kayla Hatting, 18U Gold Co-Coach- The Minnesota Sting continues to strengthen its coaching staff and we are excited to announce the addition of Kayla Hatting, Head Coach at St. Olaf College in Northfield.  Kayla will be the Co-Head Coach at 18U.

Prior to joint St. Olaf Kayla was an Asst Coach at Augustana University.  She was also a 4 year player at Luther College in Deborah, Iowa where they won 4 straight Regional Championships and made 4 straight appearances at the National Tournament and she was a four-time NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete.

Kayla loves the college recruiting process and will bring great experience in helping all of our players with their recruiting journey.  We welcome Kayla to the MN Sting!
